How to mumify a frog and other important skills

Gross me out! I saw a lady mummify a frog at the Franklin institute....Ewwwww. PS how about that mullet????

This puzzle was a little over my head, but it sure kept me entertained.

Making paper is always my favorite thing to do at the Franklin Institute. Today the color of the paper was BLUE!!!!!! Awesome.

This was a fun room, but I was really tired, and ready to be D-O-N-E. Luckily after this we went to a show at the planetarium about the stars of the Pharaohs, and I got to talk and wiggle around lots.

Valley Forge -- Way too much walking!

We went to Valley Forge on Thursday when my cousins were here. By Thursday I was DONE with all the walking. I decided to protest and spent most of my time on my bum. We walked from the visitors center up to one of the cabin locations to learn about life when Washington and the Continental Army were stationed here. The ranger leading the walk kept holding everyone up to wait for me. Finally Mom had to tell him that if the group stops, Megan stops, but if the group keeps walking, I will eventally catch up. First I had to stop and smell the flowers!

Me on one of the re-creations of the cannons. Can you imagine firing one of these?

I loved climbing the walls outside the visitors center. I would slide down on my bum after climbing up. Dirty bum, happy kid!

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it

Breakfast yesterday morning. I put a slice of bread on her plate with some eggs. Came back from shower to find 8 pieces of bread on her plate -- apparently Megan is no longer a fan of crusts, or, the 2 inches of bread that touch the crusts! P.S. She didn't touch the eggs, which she absolutely HAD to have.
Yes, that is the ENTIRE bottle of squeeze cheese on her plate. Minus the little squirts I put in her 5 Ritz cracker sandwiches and what she managed to scoop off the plate and eat straight....bleck! Count my blessings --- it all ended up on the plate, and not on the floor. I always said she had deadly aim (usually it is in regards to stepping on toes).
You think I would learn....

Ohh, that shimery stuff looks neat on the carpet!!!!

So, Mom had to take aunt Amy and my cousins to the airport on Saturday. It ended up being a pretty long trip, since they had to go all the way to New York City. There wasn't a spot for me in the car, so I stayed home with Dad for the day. Dad got really busy cleaning the house to help Mom out since we were going to host a fireside for our church the next night. He put me in front of High School Musical 2 and thought I would stay put....hee hee hee. He does not know me very well, huh? Anyway, I decided that I would try on a little of Mom's makeup, but before I could get too far into my experiment, I accidentally dumped Mom's MAC eye shimmer all over the carpet...it was such a pretty pearly pink color....I think it did a great job of jazzing up Mom and Dad's carpet. Dad didn't think so. He got it cleaned up before Mom came home, but Mom was pretty upset. Who knew eye shimmer could cost $20???? I guess it was the only expensive makeup in Mom's basket...Leave it to me to find the one expensive thing and get into it!!! I have an uncanny knack for that. Too bad Dad didn't take a picture of my masterpiece before he cleaned up. I wish I could have shown you how cool it looked.

After a long day, there is nothing like ice cream....nummy.
We found a merry-go-round. You all know how much I LOVE horses. I was in heaven, and I had to kiss every horse on my way onto and off of the merry-go-round.
Right beside the merry-go-round was a cool playground. I stayed on the swings for most of the time we were there.
This was an interesting rainbow climber...I got to the second rung and couldn't figure out where to go....hmmmm.

This guy fancied himself the playgroup police and followed me and mom around telling us we were doing things wrong and not using the playgroup equipment properly because Mom was adapting the equipment to make it fun for me. When Mom finally explained that I had trouble using the equipment and needed some help and asked him to please allow us to just play, he got really mad and walked off in a huff, but soon found some other kids to police. Here he is making sure Sage gets off the spinner after a set number of spins...

I'm in the Army Now

Here I am getting mustered into the Continental Army. The man in front was Mad Dog, the captain of the army. He was trying to teach us how to handle a rifle. I'm not sure I should ever be given a gun. I'm a little confused as to what to do. It's a good thing the one they gave me was just a wooden cutout.
The one thing the Captain told us was not to point the gun at him....look where my gun is pointed...hee hee hee.
After getting mustered into the army, we had to leave about half way through the training to go to the tour of Independence Hall. They made a big deal about it, saying we were deserting the fight for freedom. We told them we had been called to Philadelphia to serve the Continental Congress. They didn't buy it. For a more detailed entry on our trip to Philly, see my brother's blog at www.noah-jorgensen.blogspot.com

I see the Liberty Bell

Here I am in front of the Liberty Bell
Look at Independence Hall behind me
I'm waiting so patiently to go on the tour of Independence Hall
Me in front of the meeting room in Independence Hall
By the time we got into the tour of Independence Hall, I was so done with the day, but I hung in there. I enjoyed the Liberty Bell, but I wanted to touch it. How come you can't? Some guy did touch it and the park ranger was there in a second and told him to step away and not touch it again, so I guess it is good that I stayed behind the ropes. The biggest drama of the day was my pants...they were driving me crazy and I wanted Mom to roll them up, then put them down, then roll them up...I couldn't make up my mind.

Megan goes bowling....and wins!

I was ready to be done bowling after the second frame, until Mom brought over the ramp that allowed me to just roll the ball off the top and down the lane. It really helped me out and I ended up winning!!!!!
Here I am with my cousins...they aren't too happy I won, but they still love me.

Curious Megan...embarrassed Mom

Mom here to add another "Megan Moment"...We loved the museum, and Megan enjoyed exploring the different exhibits, although she definitely tired about half way through. There is nothing like repeated exhibits of naked males and females to remind you of your sheltered upbringing and rather victorian approach to the body. Megan, bless her curious innocent little soul, is not so victorian. This was a ceremonial wash basin in the exhibit about the ancient americas...any guess as to where Megan decided to grab? She kept returning to the basin -- not once, not twice, but 3 different times to explore him and "grab on". It was such a nice "handle" to grab onto...Its a good thing that most of the other exhibits were behind glass. Ahh, I love you Megan.

Me vs. the Musuem of Natural History

So Monday morning we got up and I got to ride my very first subway. Mom was a nervous wreck. She was sure i was going to go over the edge onto the tracks and she was going to have to jump down and save me. I gave her a few good scares trying to rip myself away from her, but we made it onto the train and downtown to the museum. Yes, I am wearing my awesome shirt that says "I'm a wiener" So cool. I love it because it has a wiener dog on the shirt and I love saying 'wiener dog'. It makes me laugh. We got to the museum and saw a bunch of cool things. Noah and I kept asking to see "dum dum want gum gum" from "Night at the Museum" (that's the big head from Easter Island). Saying "dum dum want gum gum" made me laugh, too. We didn't ever get to see if they had a head from Easter island, but we did see a cool big head carved out of stone, and lots of cool dead animals. We went through the section on African peoples and culture just to see what Grammy and Poppy might encounter.

I hope they don't ever meet up with the guy from the Congo. He was scary looking! We finished off the day up at the dinosaurs. By that time I was done looking at things and wanted to get into trouble.

I tried wedging myself behind one of the exhibits. That didn't work to well.

Then I went to my strengths...by the time I was finished with this computer station I had pressed the mouse so often that the computer didn't know which way was up. Mom stood there for a few minutes to see if it would reboot itself or unfreeze...It didn't. I win! Like I said, I've got computer skills. Give me 5 minutes on any computer and I can crash it, freeze it, or rename so many essential files it has no hope of ever figuring out how to run properly again. I am a master.

"NO MORE TOILET PAPER"

So after we rode the ferry, we went to a wharf where a few really old ships were docked, right by the brooklyn bridge. (that's me and my cousins in front of the bridge in the picture above -- check me out signing "i love you"). I was getting hungry, and my cousins were too, so we decided to grab some dinner at Uno's. Aunt Amy and Aunt Kendra commented that it was ironic we came all the way to New York to get Chicago style pizza. I'm not sure what that means. Anyway, at the wharf they were having a huge party for people with sign language, and it was fun to see lots of people signing, even though I don't do it as much anymore, but it did come in handy that evening...During dinner I had to go to the bathroom, so we went upstairs to use the potty. There was a big long line of women waiting for the restroom, and it seems all of them were deaf and mom understood that they were signing to each other "no more toilet paper". Mom asked in sign if they had told the manager (very broken sign). They said no, so mom and I left to go tell the manager. We got up to the front of the restaurant, and mom caught the attention of the manager...just as she was about to quietly tell him there was no more toilet paper in the ladies room, I screamed out "NO MORE TOILET PAPER". It wasn't so much a sream as a very loud voice, but you know how sometimes my voice gets screachy? It got screachy loud right on "toilet". Hey, I told the mananger what he needed to know, right? Anyway, they were very quick to get someone in with toilet paper. I think it was thanks to me!

Little Megan, Big Green Lady

We finally made it to the Staten Island Ferry and met up with my cousins and two of my aunts. Aunt Amy flew in from San Antonio with my cousins Scout, Sage, and Henry. Aunt Kendra, who lives in Manhattan, brought Stella for me to see. We went on the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty, but I was more interested in sitting with Stella. Kendra let me hold her. Don't I look all grown up? I almost dropped Stella right after this picture was taken. Oops! Then I went outside and saw the statue and sat with my aunt Amy for awhile. I am getting too big for my mom. She drives me crazy, and I'd rather be with just about anyone than her. She also kept bugging me to take my picture. Puhleeese.

Little Megan, Big Apple

So this weekend I went up to New York City with my mom and my brother and sister. Roar, my lion, came with me to keep me company. Our first job, when we finally made it into the big city, was to find a place to park. That took a lot of time and I was pretty done with the car by the time we found a place. Guess where we finally parked? Right outside the church that was in the movie National Treasure -- remember Heere at the Wall? Corner of Wall Street and Broadway? It was really different than in the movie. Outside there were lots of people selling really cool sunglasses, little statues, and tee shirts. I wanted to stop at every table, and it drove my mom crazy cause I kept trying to pick stuff up and the people kept trying to convince my mom to buy the stuff for me. As if I need any help convincing mom to buy me stuff! Really!

Check me out on my cousins' blog!

Hey, everyone. My cousin Sarah mentions me on her blog. It's another "Megan Moment". It's so funny! Looks like my cousins think I'm AWESOME. Scroll down when you get to their page. I"m at the bottom. You can find me at http://bousfieldfamily.blogspot.com/

9 years old, going on....

I decided today that I am so ready to be a teenager...starting with doing my own hair. I've seen mom spray her hair with the hairspray millions of time, so why not try it myself? I am, after all, a fashion diva (it even says so on one of my tee shirts). I even managed to fix my own hair without mom noticing. When we got home from Costco, I started to notice that my hair kinda hurt so I told mom about it. Wow, does it ever hurt to brush out big clumps of hair stuck together with hairspray! I was NOT a happy camper, but my hair sure smelled great. Here I am about an hour later when I had recovered from the hair brush-out. So maybe from now on I will ask mom's help when I want to spray my hair....naw, probably not.

I'm a HUGE Hannah Montana fan

Hi. I want you all to know that I LOVE Hannah Montana. My favorite song is Nobody's Perfect. Check it out on Itunes! Mom downloaded it and I love to dance to it when she plays in on our computer. Lots of you that live in Utah got so see how much I love to dance to Hannah Montana's music. Here's a picture of me dancing to Hannah...Notice the hairbrush that I sometimes use for a microphone. Awesome! Some more things about me are that I really want to go see the new Disney movie Underdog, I am excited to watch High School Musical 2 tonight, and my favorite color is BLUE (but I also really like purple).

Will you add to my blog?

Hi. Lots of you have emailed me to say you have "Megan moments" from your time with me. Will you add to my blog? My mom says if you email her your stories, she will put them up on the blog so we can all have fun reading about me. Today has been pretty slow for me. I did manage to dump out about 1/3 of my mom's expensive conditioner on the floor of the shower when she stepped out of the bathroom to help Noah this morning. That should teach her to leave me alone in the shower! Besides, it made the floor of the shower nice and slippery. Fun! I drew a picture of my mom yesterday for her. Do you like it?

I can play ball

When I'm not tearing up the house, I love playing Tball. Here I am talking with my buddy (she helps me hit the ball and make it around the bases). The great thing about my league is that they let you decide how many bases you want to run after you hit the ball. This time I decided that my hit was only a single. Usually I think I've hit a homerun and I hit all the bases, finishing it off by jumping on home plate.

5 minutes unsupervised in the kitchen

Hey, look what I can do in 5 minutes in the kitchen! I can find mom's stash of lunchbox treats, pull out all 5 boxes of fruit snacks and open all 50 bags! Who makes those fruit snack bags so small anyway? I figure 20 small bags all emptied into a quart size ziplock is about the right amount of fruit snacks for me! By the way, my mom is also pretty sure it was me that figured out how to order an X rated pay per view movie at Grammy and Poppy's cabin! Sorry about that charge for $10 on your account, Poppy. Mom was able to call the dish network and have it removed from your account.

Look what I can do

Hi Everyone! This is Megan (and her mom). We decided to start a blog to show you all what I can do. I do new and exciting things every day. Sometimes they are great things that show my mom that I am learning and growing. Sometimes they are funny things that drive my mom crazy. I'm going to show you both. Hope you enjoy my blog!
